Coastal Navigation Class taught by Arista Holden, May 19-21, 2023

This class will include both classroom and on-the-water sessions. Class begins with indoor learning using traditional tools such as paper charts, compasses, dividers and parallel rules. Topics covered will include dead reckoning, triangulation, anchorage assessment, anchoring, lat and long, safety/danger bearings, tides and currents/rule of 12s, etc. One day will be on the water taught on our wooden power vessel, putting your new skills to use as you navigate around Muscongus Bay. Whether you are new to coastal navigation or a seasoned navigator looking to hone your craft, this is the class for you!

• Class tuition: $325
• The class will begin at 8:30am and end at 4:30pm each day.
• Please bring your own lunch.
• On campus lodging is available. On campus lodging includes a single room, shared bathroom and kitchen access. Boarders may arrive the evening before the class begins and depart the day after the class ends. Lodging cost is $75 per person, per night. Contact [email protected] to make arrangements for lodging.
