Sailing for Climate: Sailing, Research, and Where the Two Meet
In 2014, Jess Reilly-Moman wanted to research coastal climate resilience in Mexico. Despite minimal sailing experience, she bought a Cal 39, met a shipwright (who would become her husband,) and sailed over 6,000 nautical miles, from California to Mexico, Central America, through the Panama Canal into the Caribbean. Over three years, she found funding, sailing and social science misadventures, a second dog, and incredible people and ocean experiences in Latin America. Come hear about what she learned (and what she didn’t.)
