Many who come through The Carpenter’s Boat Shop will often describe it as being a bit of bubble, removed from many of the struggles and pain of “real life.” Yet, as our apprentices often come to figure out, that while gratitude, kindness and hospitality pervade the community here, real life also happens here everyday. Below […]
On Friday, June 9, we celebrated the graduation of the Apprentice Class of 2016-17. It was a fabulous day that included a boat launching, sending boats home with 2 very satisfied customers and a final exam (not too mention some incredible food)! Congratulations Lily, Philippa, Ed, Doug, Cath, Tom, Kale, Cory, and Paul! Fair […]

With its blade spinning at 5,000 rpm (revolutions per minute), just one slip can cause a tremendous injury to its user. We are quite blessed at the Boat Shop to have two SawStop table saws, one in our main Work Shop […]
Between March 5-13, the staff and apprentices will be taking a week-long holiday for a bit of rest, relaxation and renewal. If you are wishing to be in touch, we look forward to contacting you upon our return. In the meantime, peace!
The Carpenter’s Boat Shop is remembering one of our matriarchs, Ruth Brookes, who died on Friday, February 19. Back in 1979, it was Ruth and her husband Kenneth who offered up the name, “The Carpenter’s Boat Shop” to the fledging idea of Bobby and Ruth Ives. Ruth Brookes served on the Boat Shop’s Board […]
