To ensure that apprentices will thrive at the Boat Shop, a three-day visit in residence is required as part of the application process. This visit provides insight into the life of an apprentice and helps applicants assess their fit within this community.
Three-day visits are scheduled between November and the end of April. These visits are for those applying for the subsequent academic year beginning in September. Visits are scheduled on a first-come-first-serve basis with a limited number of available dates that tend to fill quickly.
In order to schedule a three-day visit, you must first complete and submit a 3-Day Visitor Questionnaire. Once you have submitted your questionnaire, please contact our House Manager starting in late September 2019 to select a date for your visit. All three day visitors will be charged a $45 fee to cover costs related to meals and lodging during their visit (please speak with us if you believe the fee needs to be waived due to extenuating circumstances).
While we understand that finding the time to take three days out of one’s life may pose a significant challenge, we are not able to make exceptions to this process. Applications will be distributed to interested prospective apprentices upon completion of their three-day visit. Applications are due by April 30, 2020. Notices of acceptance are mailed out by May 29, 2020.
