To ensure that apprentices will thrive at the Boat Shop, a three-day visit in residence is required as part of the application process. This visit provides insight into the life of an apprentice and helps applicants assess their fit within this community.
Three-day visits are scheduled between November and the end of April. These visits are for those applying for the subsequent academic year beginning in September. Visits are scheduled on a first-come-first-serve basis with a limited number of available dates that tend to fill quickly.
In order to schedule a three-day visit, you must first complete and submit a 3-Day Visitor Questionnaire. Once your questionnaire is received, our house manager will contact you to select a date for your visit or make you aware of where you stand on our wait list of three-day visitors. UPDATE (12/13/17): Please note that all of our 3-day Visitor slots are currently filled for those looking to become apprentices beginning in September 2018. However, we do have a wait list for visitors as we are sure to have some cancellations so we are happy to still receive your 3-day Visitor Questionnaire.
While we understand that finding the time to take three days out of one’s life may pose a significant challenge, we are not able to make exceptions to this process. Applications will be distributed to interested prospective apprentices upon completion of their three-day visit. Applications are due by April 30. Notices of acceptance are mailed out by June 1.
