Apprenticeship...
The
Carpenter's Boat Shop is located in Pemaquid, Maine. It
operates
from two farmhouses on 21 acres of land near the Pemaquid River.
Apprenticeship at the Boat Shop is open to any person over 18.
Any
person who seeks to be an apprentice is required to spend 3 days in
residence at the boat shop. This preliminary visit enables
the
potential apprentice to see and experience boatshop life.
Following the visit a person may apply.
We
schedule visits between October and the end of March to be considered for
the
class beginning in September. Please contact us as soon as you can
to schedule a visit as we have a limited number of openings and our visiting dates do fill up.
Applications are due by April 1st.
We will send you a receipt indicating we have received your
application. If you have not heard from us, please let us know as
soon as possible. Notices of
acceptance are mailed out by the end of April.
Apprenticeships are for a period of nine months, from September until
mid-June.
For
those who come to the Carpenter's Boat Shop there will be no charge,
neither will there be pay for work done. Our aim is to live
in
creative simplicity. The life of the boat shop is supported
by
the sale of boats build by apprentices and by the generous gifts of
many people, year after year. We are deeply grateful for
those
gifts.
For more information, or if you would like to schedule a visit, please
